Little Foxes

Catch us the foxes, the little foxes that spoil the vines, for our vines have tender grapes.” Song of Solomon 2:15 NKJV This reminder from Solomon could be applied in so many areas of our lives. As I look around, I am seeing how the little foxes in my life are tiny things that I have left undone. Instead of putting the clean sheets away in the linen closet, they sit on the cedar chest at the foot of our bed. A bag of trash sits at the top of the stairs waiting for someone to bring it down and out to the trash bin. The little hand-held vacuum lies on its side on the floor, just feet from where I sit, instead of being returned to the cupboard where it belongs.

Prepared for a new year?

I've noticed in recent years that the older I get the faster the days, months, and years seem to whisk past me at an ever-increasing rate. Have you noticed this phenomenon, too? I mean really, wasn't it just January 2012 five minutes ago? Ha! Often the weeks between Thanksgiving and New Year's Day have a little different cadence than the rest of the year for me. We spend more time with family and friends, we attend holiday gatherings, and we bake and shop and enjoy all of the Christmas hullabaloo. We also reflect on the past year while looking ahead to what the new year might bring.
