One word ... Delightful!
On Wednesday, March 19 my husband and I returned from a week-long trip to Hawaii.
There is just one word to summarize it ... delightful!
I was honored to be invited to speak at the CHOH Convention (Christian Homeschoolers of Hawaii) that took place March 14-15 in Honolulu. Since James and I had just celebrated 23 years of marriage on February 23, we decided that he would come with me and we would make it a little anniversary vacation as well. What a treat!
Throughout our time in Hawaii, I found myself using the word delightful quite often to describe our experiences.
Here are a few examples of the delight I encountered ...
- The hospitality and fellowship at the speaker dinner Thursday evening
- The beautiful homeschool community in Hawaii
- Getting to chat with moms and dads before and after each of my workshops
- Having the opportunity to pray with a mom
- Sharing a meal and great conversation with our friends and fellow state leaders, Dan and June Mather
- Meeting new people
- Giving away several great resources in a door prize drawing I did (I love giving stuff away!)
- Doing a couple of pricing games at the beginning of my Price Is Right workshop
- Designing a bookmark with my favorite verse and giving them out at the conference
- Ordering fruity beverages topped off with a pineapple wedge and a colorful paper umbrella
- Amazing sunsets over the ocean
- Long walks with my husband along the ocean
- Laying on the beach listening to the waves lap against the shore (and not getting sunburned)
- Driving around the island getting to see many lovely sights
- Time away from the everyday busyness of life to relax and spend time with my husband
- Making myself available to be a vessel God could use
- Watching the Lord work, refreshing and encouraging the hearts of moms and dads
What a joy and a delight it was to get to travel to Hawaii to be part of the CHOH Conference and to enjoy a vacation with my man, too! My heart simply overflows with gratitude for the opportunity. I pray that the Lord would use it and multiply it and continue bringing fruit from the seeds that were sown throughout the weekend and beyond.
God is faithful. It is truly a joy to spend time with fellow homeschoolers. My husband is a gift from God and I am more in love with him than ever. And I am so thankful for our children and the homeschool adventure we shared.
Psalm 37:4 NKJV
My favorite verse as a homeschooling parent is Proverbs 15:2 TLB
